Gay male artists, whether highly skilled or beginner level, attend sessions being held at Twiggs Bakery & Coffeehouse in University Heights.

If you have attended one of our sessions, when you bring a friend who is attending for the first time, the cost for the two of you is only $15 instead of $20.

So invite a friend, who wants to draw or take photos, and save five bucks!

Want to learn more about us and find out how you can participate? Here are answers to some questions we have been asked.

Where do the sessions take place?

Our sessions are held at Twiggs Bakery & Coffeehouse at 4590 Park Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92116.

Is GMAG sponsored or supported by Twiggs?

No, GMAG is an independent organization that rents space from Twiggs.

When and how long are the sessions?

The three-hour sessions begin at 6 pm. Feel free to arrive and leave as convenient for you.

Who can participate?

Both beginner and skilled artists and photographers of any skill level are welcome to either draw or take photos or do both.

Is there an age requirement?

Yes, since our models are nude, only persons over 18 may attend.

How many models pose at a session?

We typically have two (but often three) male models.

Will there be an instructor?

No, there is no instruction.

What poses will the models perform?

The models do both short poses (5 minutes or less) and longer poses (20 minutes or more).

What supplies are available?

You need to bring your own drawing supplies and/or camera equipment.

Is it okay to just take photos, or do I have to do some drawing also?

We alternate between life drawing and photography sessions. The calendar lists the schedule of these alternating sessions.

May I come to a session and just observe?

No, our sessions are just for those who will be drawing or taking photos. But, it's fine if you're not skilled or experienced; beginners are very welcome.

Do I need a fancy, sophisticated camera?

No. Most people use a cell phone or tablet camera or a simple point and shoot.

Are there any restrictions on what art materials I can bring?

Please no oil paints, chalks, or sprays.

Is food available?

The coffeehouse offers drinks and baked goods.

What is the cost of each session?

The cost is $10. (See also our bring-a-friend special.) Cash only; credit cards and checks are not accepted.

Should I sign up for the sessions?

An RSVP is not needed to attend our sessions.

Do you need any models?

Yes, we are interested in having a variety of models for our sessions. Send us an email if you are interested.
